voluntary photography projects: giving back through images.

Photography is my profession, but it’s also how I connect with people, places, and stories that matter. I work on commercial projects that allow me to do what I love, but some of my work isn’t about business. Some work is about giving back.

One cause close to me is The Filo Project, an award-winning dementia care service in Devon. Their work is personal to me. I saw firsthand the life-changing support, care, and friendship they gave my Mum for over a year. Small group daycare in an intimate home setting is a model that treats people with dignity, patience, and warmth. Care that makes a difference.

I support causes that resonate with me, where photography can help raise awareness, tell a story, or make an impact. If you’d like to learn more about The Filo Project, you can read about their amazing work here.

In June 2021, I photographed four Teignmouth gardens: Bay View, High Tor, Sea Vista, and Yannon Terrace, for the National Garden Scheme. Since 1927, this organisation has raised over £60 million for nursing and health charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK, and The Queen’s Nursing Institute. It exists because garden owners, volunteers, and visitors believe in something bigger than themselves.
